Problem installing Starter Ver 4.2

Phil# Regular Member Joined: 2/1/2010 Last visit: 11/7/2024 Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Hi all I have a problem installing Starter Ver 4.2 Despite uninstall/reinstall of Step 7 and installing Starter V4.2.0 still failing to install. I get the following message - see attachment . Before this I have tried following: Uninstall Starter V4.1 SP5 Disabled antivirus software with the help of IT and then installing V4.2.0. It fails to complete the installation with same message every time. I have read the following FAQ http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/8861819 but the registry does not contain the entry "PendingFileRenameOperations". The operating system used is Windows XP SP3 and STEP 7 V5.4 SP4 Any help is appreciated Regards Phil Attachment StarterV4.2.0.0 setup error.jpg (778 Downloads)

Is it possible that some files from the previous version have not been uninstalled preventing the new installation. Phil

I check into RASETUP.LOG, and in thelast part of then this is written: //// ..... The solution is not so easy (if you are not familiary whit Windows RegEdit, ask someone to help you), but work pefectly. This is the solution: //-------------------- please perform the following steps: 1. In registry save / export the following Client-key into reg-file HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Siemens\Shared Tools\S7DOS\Clients 2 delete the following key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Siemens\Shared Tools\S7DOS 3. execute STARTER - Setup again 4. import of S7DOS-Client by import of the saved reg-file in the original place ---------------------// Thank-you Mr. Norbert Heimbeck

Bizarre as provided in DRIVE ES Starter 5.4SP4 was not a problem! I do have a question. In 1 I save HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Siemens \ Shared Tools \ S7DOS \ Clients In 2 I delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Siemens \ Shared Tools \ S7DOS In 3 I need to restore HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Siemens \ Shared Tools \ S7DOS \ Clients I lose so the registry keys present in S7DOS? 2-is it really: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Siemens \ Shared Tools \ S7DOS and not KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Siemens \ Shared Tools \ S7DOS \ Clients I saved the 2 just in case.
