Programing DP/RS232C LINK

Hi,

I have a2D reader this is connected to PLC S7-CPU317-2 DP.
The2D reader is connectedvia PROFIBUSbyDP/RS232C linkmodule.

How can I read about 120 characterswithout using 120 bytes in the image ofthe inputs
my question is:

1.- What protocol must be used
2.- What is the neccesary configuration in hardaware
3.- How should I read from the DP/RS 232
4.- Any other "hint" ?

1. Thats completely depending on your 2D reader...
2. See 1. the DP/RS232C Link possibilitys are directly visible in the hardware configuration of this DP-slave.
3. Use SFC14 to read in bigger blocks then 4 byte and put them directly in to a datablock.
4. First of all try to get out of the documentation of the 2D Reader which protocol this reader need.... Then check if the DP/RS232C Link have the possibility to read that protocol... Parametrize the DP/RS232C in the Hardware projecting of STEP7 and then get the data from the 2D Reader into a datablock with SFC14.

If the length of the data is always 120 byte then you may use ASCII with "Number of characters" mode.
