I have posted a couple of times about problems from this machine that im fixing which i have been able to solve until now.

So my issue now is that i have installed a new fagor lineal encoder which replaces an old heidenhain encoder but im getting an error when i move the axis about 5-10cm (alarms in photo). I can move the machine back and forth within those 10 cm but then i get an error (i have tried various points of the encoder just in case it was a mechanical problem). I guess i have to modify some parameters to fix this issue.

Does anyone know what parameters should be adjusted?

That would have been the best option but unfortunatley i already have the new encoder from fagor so i have to fix the issue

With this machine i have been on and off so i havent really had the chance to modify parameters yet but today im going to look at the manual like you said

When you do get a chance to try it, I suggest you set the bits in general MD parameter 13150 $MN_SINAMICS_ALARM_MASK (Activate fault and warning buffer output for Sinamics) to activate alarms and warnings for the drives (or just set it to ffffh).

This will give additional alarms and warnings with much more detail than the generic hardware fault alarms.

As Riddersholm says, the old scale is distance coded and the new one is not.

There are a number of drive and axis parameters that need to be changed.  It would probably be easier to use the drive config wizard to change the encoder type to incremental.  Then the assign axis function could be used to update the axis data.

You may have other problems since the distance coded scale can reference with just a short motion in either direction, but the incremental scale needs a cam switch normally at the end of travel so the correct marker pulse can be identified.
