840 d machine control panel comms mpi

carvercontrols Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Have fitted a new 810d nc card and uploaded all the arc files, so far so good. set all the comms addresses, all ok the 840d will not communicate with the machine control panel error 4000232, leds just flash.

SteveJ Posts: 328 Rating: (29)	Dear Sir Is this an existing installation? or are you commisioning from new? the fact that all LED's flash on the MCP indicates that there is no communication to that panel.the alarm number you stated is incorrect, Please check wether the MPI cable is correctly connected and that the terminator switch on the plug is set correcty. (ON if at the extreme of the MPI network, OFF if it is in the middle) Check that the correct node address is setup on the MCP interface. (Default Address = 6) Please get back to me with more information. Best regards SteveJ

carvercontrols Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Stevej This is an existing installation, Breton Stone CNC. initial fault was a ncu failure, replaced this and downloaded the arc files, siemens talked me through the proceedure and cured the initial comms nc to pc error by resetting the addresses. is there a setup for the control panel address and where would i find it? MPI Cable has been replaced and terminators set. Cheers

SteveJ Posts: 328 Rating: (29)	Dear Sir The MPI address is set from a set of DIP switches on the back of the MCP, The condition of the switches depends upon the type of MCP used For which i need the part number. Best regards SteveJ
