Allen Bradley Flex IO integrated into PCS7 with Profibus

Donuts Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	I'm working on a project that requires Allen Bradley Flex IO modules to be integrated into Siemens PCS7 through Profibus interface. I have the GSD files that I can drag and drop into my Hardware Configuration but from there things get a little murky and there doesn't seem to be much help from the Allen Bradley side or the Siemens side. Is there anyone else that has gone through this exercise that can provide some insight/help with getting this setup correctly? I already have the manual for the Allen Bradley Flex IO Profibus adapter.

RugbyGuy Silver Expert Joined: 1/15/2009 Last visit: 4/19/2024 Posts: 316 Rating: (40)	I have not done work directly with the Allen Bradley Flex IO, however I have integrated Allen Bradley Drives (using the 20-CommP) into PCS 7. It was as you described, get the GSDs then install them. Then understand which address spaces are used for the setpoints, current and rpm values (etc). Once you have that portion layed out in HW Config you can bring that data in as symbols into CFC. But the trick is understanding how AB maps the IO through the GSD. They will have to help you with that.

Donuts Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	Currently I cannot even get the profibus network to recognize the Flex IO. That's another hurdle I have yet to overcome.

If you have those, then generally it should show online in HW Config.
