Hi, First you need to download hardware configuration so that the CPU know how you communicate with it and which IO is connected. Then you download netpro so that the CPU knows which connections exist to servers and or other cpu's and then you download your CFC program in the CPU. Sometimes you can download a HUP (Hardware Upgrade Package). it will add a device to the hardware configuration library. Make sure it is released for your PCS7 version and do not install if it is not released for PCS7. Sometimes, you can add a GSD file which adds a device which you can use in your IO. It is basically a configuration file. Also, sometimes you can have a newer version of a device let's say a ET200M DI module. It does not exist in the library, but you can configure the old version and it still works. Siemens makes sure it is backwards compatible. |
