S7-300 and S7-400 will be programmed through Step7 V. 5.x, Basic or Professional S7-1200 and S7-1500 can only be programmed using TIA Portal. V. 11 will also program S7-300 CPUs, and the S7-1500 requires V. 12. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

yas Posts: 10 Rating: (4)	i think S7300&400 IO server is dedicated to communicate directly with SIEMENS PLC (S7-300, S7-400 and S7-1200) and also VIPA PLC using either the MPI link or the Ethernet link (ISOTCP) and the S7300&400 IO Server can also be used to poll data on S7-1200 PLC.

Yahu Posts: 59 Rating: (1)	hi dear good its diffrence between all of this CPU is that S7200===its dedicated 200 i/o System and its Software enviroment is Microwin S7300===its didicated more then 200 ti 3000 i/o with Remot I/o corfigure with Profibus/Profinet. S7400===its dedicated more then 3000 to 5000 i/o with remote i/o configure with profibus and profinet with redundunce aviability. S7300 and S7400 used Simatic manager Software platform and S7400 its self call PCS7 DCS also Used for Plant Autoamation I hope Its Helpfull For U. SMHZ Bronze Member Joined: 10/19/2012 Last visit: 4/17/2022 Posts: 315 Rating: (9)	- S7-200 (microcontroller) is a PLC for small applications and can only be programmed via special SW and small instructionset. low memory (obsolete now) - S7-1200 is for low-end performance applications (economical) - S7-300 is for the low-end and mid-end performance applications (Compact modules). - S7-1500 is for mid-end to high-end performance applications (very fast) - S7-400 is for the mid-end and high-end performance (large modules). s7-300 & S7-400 can be programmed via SIMATIC Manager. whereas except S7-200 all can be programmed in TIA portal v12 or greater
