Using Cyclic interrupts (OB3X) is a common practice.Select a cycle time for the OB3X which is less than the dominant time constant of the process. For more practical processes 100ms is normal but selecting this value depends on process.Check the manual for more hints.In the example provided in STEP7, you can check how these functions utilized. BR

So frankly I am a little bit confused, should I set the "cycle" parameter to OB35 interrupt rates + scaning rates of all OBs. Please, I need help. Tomy.

You should only concern about the time difference between two calls of OB35.processing of this OB can be interrupted by higher prior OBs and you make sure that by setting a higher priority value for this OB. This value is crutial and better to be actual between calls of OB35. So, if CPU calls OB35 every 100ms so cycle will be 0.1 and acts like time difference (Delta t) in PID algorithm.So if it is a accurate value, your algorithm works natural due to changes in process.If you decrease this value any parameter which is calculated in algorithm such speed (delta x devided by time)will be increased wrongly.This is a critical parameter and needs to be set accurately. SAMPLE TIME OF CONTINUOUS CONTROLLER [s] This sets the sampling time for the PID algorithm. The tuner calculates the sampling time in Phase.CYCLE is real value initial value 0.1s

Marcjan Platinum Member Joined: 4/22/2010 Last visit: 3/31/2025 Posts: 5697 Rating: (716)	There is one more thing to watch: Rules for Cyclic Interrupts When you specify the intervals, make sure that there is enough time between the start events of the individual cyclic interrupts for processing the cyclic interrupts themselves.
