(Filed PG SINUMERIK 820 M comunication problem ) Does anyone have the cable part no. or preferably the pin-outsfor a PLC coms cablebetween the PG740 S5 programming port and the 810 com port please. This is the cable for going on-line with the PG740 running the S5 programming software. (Not the cable for standard serial comsusing PCINfor uploading and downloading serial data ie. part progs, I have that one) Thanks in advance, Richard,

shanny Posts: 44 Rating: (0)	Hi, Unless the 810/820 is one of the first ever produced a standard comms cable is sufficient to go online. The early systems would only work over 20ma current loop and so required a port with 20ma current loop and a special cable. Make sure the comms data is set correctly as per previous post. Check that the port is set up for plc by looking in the data transfer screen. I think the description PLC-PROG is displayed. Also do not forget to press START DATA TRANSFER or it will not open up the port for the plc.
