S7-400H and Y-Link Connection to Profibus DP Field Instrument

anuchisa Advanced Member Joined: 10/15/2010 Last visit: 11/14/2024 Posts: 36 Rating: (0)	Hi On my control system, the PLC S7-400H has to communicate to many field instrument and drives by Profibus DP communication. Hence, I planned to use Y-Link to communicate to these field device. I knew that there is a limitation for 244 byte Input and 244 byte Ouput through 1 Y-Link Connection. However, I have a cost limitation to purchase additional Y-Link. Could anyone recommend me a method or programming technique to link one Y-Link to many field instrument (more than 244 byte I/O). Someone used to told me that we can use a programming technique for reading/sending data less than 244 byte I/O to one group of field instrument.... and then looping (reading/sending) to other group of field instrument (to avoid the number of I/O byte exceed 244 bytes). Is this method possible ? Thanks anuchisa

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (264)	What's behind Y-link? If there is some I-slave (like S7-315) then it's possible for sure, otherwise got to think it over
