Hello BVV; There is a possibility of connection with remote i/o ovec Modbus/TCP. Look at the following FAQ, which give you links to information and links to demo versions of the various formats of Open Modbus/TCP; the one which would help you is Open Modbus/TCP Redundant, designed for thje S7-400H: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/22660304 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hi Daniel, Thanks for your prompt reply. Our requirement is to establish communication between S7-400H CPU and remote I/O (ET200M) on modbus ethernet TCP/IP or Ethernet TCP/IP. Please suggest us to proceed further. Thanks & regards, BVV |

Hello BVV allow me to firstly point you to THIS similar Forum enquiry. Assuming support for redundant ET200M stations on Profinet (instead of Profibus) will indeed be released soon for the H system (it's long overdue I must say), you can tell your customer without lying that your I/O communication isTCP/IP based (well, at least to a certain extend for non time critical things. Profinet I/Odata however bypasses the TCP/IP stack to remove the overhead associated with it, see also HERE for more). Perhaps others knowwhen redundant ET200M Profinet I/O is meant to be released forH system, but you may also want to check with your local Siemens rep who may be able to find out more. If you can't wait for it, I'm afraid to say that good old Profibus basedET200M'sis the only choice for redundant H system I/O stations (and there's still nothing wrong with Profibus anyhow if you ask me). I hope this helps |
