Urgent help required. Sampling time of IO modules when change from "Upon change" to "Cyclic - per second", will there be impact on system performance/response time?

ericlim001 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Dear Experts, I need your advice urgently. I am an end user who is not familar with the Simatic S7-400 series. Currently, we have a dual redundant S7-400 PLC controlling a process plant with around 8000+ IO modules. There is a requirement to increase the sampling time for all modules from "Upon Change" to "Cyclic - per second". I need to confirm theoritically, will there be a major impact on system performance or response time or none at all? Please help. Regards Eric

Do you want to increase the speed of process controlling with the PLCs or a response of the SCADA system? In case of I/O modules it means the process control, according the "upon change" and "cyclic" terms it seems as trigger cycles in SCADA. Regards Sydney BTW: Maybe it should be in some other conference, e.g. SIMATIC HMI -> WinCC (in case of SCADA question)or maybe Process Control Systems SIMATIC PCS7 if it's used.
