user prompt possible in G-code ??

Adamastor77 Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Hi everybody, I am currently working on a machine-tool with Sinumerik 840D NC. I was wondering whether it was possible or not to prompt the user at the beginning of the program. Let me explain: every time the program is started, I want the operator to be prompted with a dialog box. There would be only one field in that dialog box, a field that must be filled in with the part number. Only once the part number would have been entered the program will resume. Is that possible on Siemens ? Thank you in advance for your help Luis

I would probably use the Wizard but other options are Easymask or Visual Basic The method open to all which I have never had to use is the 'Interactive Window Call From Parts Program Command' and can be found in the Programming Manual Job Planning :- aditional functions. This will then direct you the HMI manual. You could just put up an operator message telling the operator to enter a value in an R parameter and check that the value in R parameter has changed. Pee

MMC command in your part program. see section 4.5.5 of expand user interface, this is what you are looking for. Not too simple, but not too hard either. Just hard enough to make you think.
