What is the Maximum Remote IO size can be handling by CPU 416-2 DP

YKW Posts: 21 Rating: (0)	Hi all, I have a S7-400 416-2DP CPU with 7 CP443-5 Ext modules. This CPU serve as Master and there are over 100 slaves S7-300 CPU in these networks. All the slave CPUs have configured as "Configured Stations".My problem is currently I have the remote IO Input count used up to I4980 and I couldn't add in anymore slave station. Can I increase the "Size of the process-image input area" and would it solve my problem? If yes, would I facing other issue in future? e.g. work memory issue? Scan cycle issue? Thanks. Best regards YKW Hello YKW, I dont think that remote IO input count of 4980 is really the problem. As far as I remember this CPU has address space of 16k Byte, so that is quite a lot. For details on limits you would have to give us the number of the CPU. But you mention, that you have already "more than 100 slaves S7-300 CPU" in your network. How many are it exactly? Are you aware that maximum profibus addresses is 126? Probably you are already on that limit. You should check it. Increasing the size of the process-image input area will not help you here, as it determines, which address area the CPU wil scan by itself. If there were nodes outside that area, you would have to use copy function. regards

Hello YKW 4096 Bytes is the I/O limit of the CP443-5 Ext (see CP tech spec HERE) and my guess is that you are trying to exceed this. As these 4096 Bytes can be "scattered" across a large overall address range, only you can check ifyou reached thislimit (mind you, HWconfig should have issued you with a popup informing you that you exceeded the 4096 I/O Byte limit, did you get this warning?). Let's say you reached the limit, what you can do is this: - Add another CP443-5 and put the extra DP Slaves on it - Use the CPU's on-board DP port if you need all these DP Slaves on one port (it can handle 8192 Bytes for a current 416-2, please see tech spec of your CPU for more). I hope this helps
