Writing tool disabled status from NCprogram

I would like to disable a tool from my NC-program.

When I try to write in $TC_TP8 I can get the enabled status off but I cannot get the disabled status on.

Example:

My current tool status is "enabled". This means bit 1 is high. If I read out $TC_TP8[ my toolno ] I get value 2 (decimal) 10 binary. So this is correct

When I try to write $TC_TP8[ my toolno] = 4 (decimal) this should mean bit 2 becomes 1 and bit 1 becomes 0 (binary 100).

If I look into my toolparameter I can see that bit 1 has become 0 (enabled is switched off) but bit 2 is also still 0 and not 1.

It looks like if bit 2 is somewhere 'protected' to be written other than monitoring data.

Does anyone know how to write bit 2 ?

MyToolno is just an example. The syntax which I normally use there is, you are correct, something with $P_Toolno. I know the used syntax works.

I am just wondering (and that was the reason for the post) why it looks like if the disabled bit is protected to be written other than from monitoring data (tool life)
