Hello pici_c let's start with a link to the manual first: S5-115U Programmable Controller (CPU941-944) have a look at chapter 6.2.2 which explains how to set the Slot address for your new DQ card (which his done on theIM306 in your case). You did not say if your CPUhas an EPROM in it or relies on a backup battery tokeep the program in case of power failures. Either way, it never hurts toupload an online backup from the CPUprior to poweringthe PLC off. I hope this helps |

Hello pici_c you do indeedunderstood it correctly. S5 I/O addresses are either fixed (Slot based) and/or done via DIP Switches (on the I/O card itself or via the IM as in your case)and there is no "HWconfig" like Step7 has (135 and/or 155 systems can additionally have a so called "Address list' DB, but this too does not exist in your 115U944 CPU). Your responsibilty is however to make sure to find a free address range for the new card. I hope this helps |
