Backup S5-100U

Hi

i have worked with s7 200,300 and 1200 but never with S5, and i have to connect and backup an S5-100U CPU 100   

i dont find clear information:

What software, cables i need to backup the program??

on the manual only say this:

"A program can be backed up only if the back-up battery is connected. Backing up copies a program from the program memory of the CPU to a memory submodule. Only valid blocks are backed up. As soon as you have changed the integral, default DB1 data block, it is a valid block that can be backed up."

but dont say anything more!!

could someone with experience  help me or give me tips ? and make this topic bigger

Step 5 is the official Siemens program for the S5 family, but it runs under DOS (or a Command window, up to WIN XP), and is now considered obsolete.

An alternative could be this product from IBH Softech, it runs under Windows:

They also offer programming cables designed for newer Windows OS.

 Thanks Dchartier, your answer was very helpful.  That software looks very reliable and better than S5 on MS-DOS, do you have any experience using it? i read that it can be used for upload, download and editing programs.
