Dear Mr Denilson Pegaia and everyone, I have a project in which i have to control the speed of two gearmotors so that they can run at the same speed. For now, I am thinking of using the absolute endoder on the first gearmotor and use the feedback signal of the first encoder as setpoint to the PID controller on S7 1200 to control the second gearmotor, the absolute encoder on the second gearmotor will act as feedback signal of the PID controller. Can the PID controller of S7 1200 work with Continually changing PID setpoint and is it a good idea to use PID for this application? That depends on the application. How fast things are moving and how precise does it have to be. A PLC is generally slow. |

Well as he mentioned, trying to control speed of gearmotors. its mechanical thing its not Generator voltage synchronization phase angle that he is trying to regulate. Even if he is changing this speed with another electrical motor, it is still mechanical things, not possible to change signifintly speed inside 10ms. PLC is good choice |

Absolutely disagree, and then again I did not understand much of what you wrote not to mention it appears contradictory. Often synchronizing speeds also means synchronizing position and since I have no clue what the application is my statement is valid. Here's an example, you have a conveyor and a sponge belt where the product moves between them and both have to be running at exact speed at all times or the product goes crooked. Both drives receive analog signal to control their speeds which is dependent on the volume of product on the belt as it is processed in by the next machine. It's, stop, slow, fast, stop, fast, stop,fast stop, medium, slow,fast, medium,fast,stop. What are we synchronizing? |

Hello, in the company I working, integrators used the DRS11B Synchronous Operation Card in SEW inverter for that cases: http://download.sew-eurodrive.com/download/pdf/11671815.pdf or in simple application, you can use (from encoder) frequency input in for example ABB 355 inverter as speed set point. |
