I was wondering, whether is it possible to mix SIPLUS modules with non SIPLUS, standard modules?

For example, let's say the cabinet is made totally with SIPLUS equipment, PROFIBUS network. Then it was desided to change to PROFINET and with standard modules. Can we make the transition step by step, by replacing only CPU first, then IM and CP, and then I/O? Would Standard CPU work with SIPLUS IM, CP, I/O, and then standard IM and CP with standard I/O and etc.

From a configuration point of view, it will work without any problems. By the way, SIPLUS modules are configured in HW configuration using the same part number of non-SIPLUS modules.

But you should take care of why SIPLUS was initially selected. If there is too low temperature of temperature above 60 deg. humidity, or toxic gases, then SIPLUS should be used.

That's the thing interesting me, if we configure SIPLUS modules as simple in configuration, They have to function as same, therfore what is the difference between using physically simple or SIPLUS modules in terms of configuration?

The environment conditions are acceptable for simple modules, no worries there.

   Mixed configuration is not possible. You cannot configure the SIPLUS extreme modules together with the SIMATIC standard modules.

   For your case and if mixed modules will be installed in the same system / rack, use standard part number in your configuration for all modules.

Thank you a lot for your investigation. I am using Simatic Manager (Step 7 v5.7), so all modules configured as simple. Now it’s clear there is no problem mixing if to configure with Step 7, but not acceptable with TIA portal.
