Communicate S7-200 PLC and WinCC comfort/Advanced over MODBUS RTU?

Is it possible to communicate S7-200 PLC and WinCC comfort/Advanced over MODBUS RTU? Or can we communicate over other protocol like PPI/MPI? Thanks in Advance.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Split from S7-200 with TIA V13.

Duris_I Diamond Member Joined: 4/28/2015 Last visit: 3/22/2023 Posts: 9162 Rating: (723)	Hello Zopeparag, you can configure S7-200 connection in TIAv13 WinCC, in most cases you can better implement PPI or MPI connection with HMI than Modbus, but as William posted, some HMIs doesn't have RS-485 port (PPI/MPI/DP), so in this case you can't use connection with PPI/MPI protocol. Some Modbus connections are made (HMI acts as Modbus Master), but you need implement also S7-200 as Slave programatically what can be problem, configuration, library. Better is use PPI/MPI connection, is simple and you can configure all needed memory areas as you need in WinCC.

Actually we are not using any HMI device, we are developing SCADA using WinCC Comfort/Advanced V13 SP1. i.e PC Station. And Thank you Duris for suggesting that use of PPI/MPI will be easier because we are also thinking to implement the same. So as per my knowledge and your suggestions we can communicate our SCADA using PPI/MPI easily. Thank all of you for your valuable support.
