Scorpioni Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	Greetings, As a long time WinCC user, I'm having extreme difficulties with the Intouch software package I'm forced to use for one of our projects. What is the easiest way to set up a stable communication between the siemens PLC and the Intouch program (preferably without using an OPC server)? Most information online is either obsolete (at least 8 years old) or references software provided by Wonderware which is no longer avaiable. It seems there is almost no WW support of Intouch 10.0. Scorpioni Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	Hello UMENCHO, Thank you for your reply. CPU is a 315PN-DP. The Scada pc bought for the client has no Siemens CP card. The easiest solution would be to find an I/O server which enables me to communicate via ethernet but I fear this is not possible. Cheers, Scorpioni

There has ethernet way for communication with Intouch. And you can't imagine how easy is this. The decision name is DASSIDIRECT Server. If we use InTouch system we allways use ethernet connection and DASSIDIRECT I/O server. I think this is the best way to do communications between InTouch and Siemens PLC. Inever like 3rd party OPC servers (I prefer only Siemens because it never causes trouble), so DASSIDIRECT is allways best solution.

But the Archestra IDE supplied with Intouch 10.0 looks very different from the Archestra System Management Console used in the shown help file. I can't even seem to find the DAserver within archestra. Are there any help files regarding SIDirect DAserver and Archestra IDE? Thx, Scorpioni

Scorpioni Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	Update: I installed the necessary objects in the DiSIDirect_1.5.aaPKG file from the cd and in archestra I have now 3 objects that can work with the SIDirect DAServer: $S7C, $S7C_S7 and $S7C_S7_200 I picked the 2nd one and made an instance using the following properties: Name of instance: Project_PLC IP: ip adress of PLC used Local TSAP: 01 00 Remote TSAP: Rack 0 Slot 2 Connection resource 03 (is connection resource used when using TCP/IP?) I used Check In and there were no problems. Then I go to my Intouch project and make a new access name: Name SiemensPLC Node (left empty) Application Name: DASSIDirect Topic Name: Project_PLC I made a tag in Intouch with the access name made above and an outputfield using this tag and tried to manipulate it through the PLC but the communication doesn't seem to work. I feel I'm getting closer and closer to getting it functional Any ideas? Scorpioni

Right click on ArchestraSIDI... put in start and then Auto. I guess you can ping CPU from PC.(to know that cable and physical connection is OK). ANd when you create topic in inouch, put there in "COnnection type" - DDE. You are on the right way. Just you need to "play" a little with settings. Best regards Hristo MIhalev
