Hello, we are three students who have been given the following task from our mentor; to connect (if possible) a Siemens servo drive (http://www.hmkdirect.com/products/drives/servo/s110/) with a Yaskawa servo motor (http://www.ebay.de/itm/YASKAWA-AC-Servo-Motor-SGMAH-A5AAF41D-/110751053110). From what we can tell, the servo motor uses a Firewire connection to transmit (or receive) its input signals to the Siemens servo drive, which instead uses an Ethernet connection to receive (transmit?) its input signals. Our first thought was to connect the two devices with a "Firewire to Ethernet converter" (http://newnex.com/FireNEX-CAT5-S400.phporhttp://trendnet.com/products/proddetail.asp?status=view&prod=125_TC-NTUF&cat=36) However, we are unsure if they can correctly interact with each other after the connection is made. We are also wondering if such a connection could damage any of the two devices, after PLC instructions are given to them. We appreciate any comments, epically from those who have been confronted with a problem of similar nature as ours. Thanks in advance Lerniastudents
