Hello Greg; The programming port of S5 CPUs uses a current loop (TTY)interface, so you need a converter cable such as this one, proposed by Siemens: 6ES5 734-1BD20 and a 9 pin to 25 pin convertor. I have not heard much success from USB to serial cables with this cable, unfortunatey. You clould also look at the offerings from another provider, but I cannot be certain that Step 5 is supporting them 100%: http://www.ibhsoftec-sps.de/english/Selection_Hardware_S5.htm Maybe someone else here has had a chance to use them? Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hi, for my laptop which have only USB ports, I use an USB-RS232 converter produced by FTDIchip company. The type of my converter is US232R-10 Is working on XP Prof and Step5 V7.23. You can check the next link: http://apple.clickandbuild.com/cnb/shop/ftdichip?op=catalogue-products-null&prodCategoryID=84&title=USB-+RS232+%2B+DB9 dekor. |
