Communication of hmi and pc with cpu-224 simultaneously

jass Posts: 20 Rating: (0)	Dear all, I am using a cpu-224 having only one port for communication I have communicated plc and hmi using profibus(MPI Protocol),profibus used is having a pg connector when I connect MPI on the pg port and try to moniter my plc program it showing an error "port cannot be configured it is being used by another application" so I have to disconnect my hmi connection and then only i am able to moniter my program Please guide

Regards, Marcjan Thats correct, but as I understand the original user uses Profibus-DP module on PLC and also uses profibus connector with PG socket. This module is connected to HMI and everything is ok, but if he connects his computer to the profibus connector's PG socket he can't monitor program as long as HMI is connected. I really has no idea on why this happens, but first I need confirmation that he uses EM277. In that case it would be really strange, because EM277 has max 6 MPI connections possible, but 1 out of the is reserver for HMI and 1 for PG communication. SO it should work. But again, I need mmore detailed info on network connections.

Here is some info from catalog Yes; As MPI slave for data exchange with MPI masters (S7-300/S7-400 CPUs, OPs, TDs, Push Button Panels); S7-200-internal CPU/CPU communication is possible in the MPI network with restrictions; transmission rates: 19.2/187.5 kbit/s Nothing is said about number of connections or PG. I think (just gues) that integrated port just can communicate as MPI slave with 2 devices simultaneusly because of number of connections which I think is 1. But I'm not so very sure. What are the settings of PG/PC interface ? I mean there is check box called like 'PG is the only master on the network'. Maybe you can try to play with it, but I'm not sure if it helps either.

Settings used in set PG/PC is PC Adapter MPI I tried to check the options of "PG/PC is only master on the bus" when the hmi is connected and if I select the PG/PC is the only master then CPU is detected in the communications but the error"Port cannot be configured it is being used by another application"comes when I try to moniter the program and when the check box"PG/PC is only master on the bus" is not selected then the cpu is not detected in the communications Regards.

Dear jass,

For S7-200 PLC it is not possible to communicate HMI & PC together on the same port.

If one port is engaged for one application, it can't be use for another application.

My suggestion is that you should go for 224 XP or 226 which have two ports available, So one can be used for programming/monitoring purpose & another can be used for HMI.
