Comparison of S7-1500 PLC with other brands of PLC

Kindly let me know where exactly it will be placed when compared to Allen Bradely and Schneider PLC. Which will be the equivalent model in Allen Bradely and Schneider? I really require a help in this matter. I am promoting S7-1500 PLC. Kindly help me. Regards, Lakshmisha K

I note that e.g. HW comparation leads quite in 100% of the cases to oversizes... - So, check first what you really need (inputs, outputs, program size, speed, special functions, etc.). After that choose your PLC. - Take also in consideration the everionment too: S7-1500 comes together with TIA Portal that permits an easy integration between PLC and HMI, SCADA, drives, etc.

So you may compare with the similar portfolio. CPU 1511-1 PNis the entry level CPU in S7-1500 family. CPU selection can be done based on other parameters like IO count, other devices connected to the system, communication capabilities of the PLC, etc as rightly said by Pegaia.

Jorsal Posts: 74 Rating: (31)	Note that when you compare with a Rockwell/Allen Bradley CPU, that the memory levels given in datasheets Rockwell is Load memory. And to my knowledge you cannot expand the load memory with a SD/CF card. The SD/CF card can only be used for logging data and saving the offline project (Based on my limited knowledge about Rockwell, might be wrong). I realized it by myself when I tried to convert a Siemens S7 project to the Rockwell platform, and realized that my 40 kb of work code in the S7 PLC couldn't fit in the 384 kb of load memory of an CompactLogix 1769-L16ER. On the S7-1500 you have the Work memory split into Code and Data. In the S7-1511 you have 150 KB available for code, and 1MB for data. The load memory can be expanded up to 32 GB! But not when it comes to redundancy (yet). It is difficult to make an exact comparison, as some things might be done differently by the different vendors. Some things are really complicated to implement at on vendor, and sometimes it is opposite. All vendors have their good and bad implementations...

This has a mis claimer as to how you program also. A program Written in Control logix 5571 which has 2MB of memory I used about 80% of the memory and the Cyclic task runs at ~60ms. The same program in the S7 1516 has 24MB ofLoad and 1MB ofCode and 5MB of Data memory uses 20% of the Load, 25% of the Code, and 2% of the data and the code runs in cyclic OB1 in about 10-15ms. So based on this the 1516 is equal to the Control Logix 5573W/8MB in Memorybut 4 times as fast processing. So a 1513 would be equal to a Control Logix 5571 w/2MB of Memory and the same speed because the 1513 is 3 times slower than 1516. Also, the speeds of the Control Logix are all the same. I am not sure about Schneider. I hope this helps you out.
