configuration for a S7-300 redundant system using IM 153-2 HF

Ariya Man Posts: 90 Rating: (7)	Hey guys! I need your opinion on a configuration for a S7-300 redundant system. The first attached file (*Config 1) is the configuration that our client has recommended using two “IM 153-2 HF” which include four “IM 153-2” but due to lack of space, we are going to change that configuration and only use one “IM 153-2” ( see Config 2* attached file in reply to this thread) and my question is does the modified configuration make sense? I mean in your opinion is it doable? your help is highly apprecietted Attachment Config 1.jpg (951 Downloads)

fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 11/18/2024 Posts: 3027 Rating: (1057)	Hello Ariya Man sorry, your solution will NOT work and you MUST use two IM153-2's AND active backplane modules for the ET200M for your Software Redundant System. Have a look atWhich modules can you use when implementing software redundancy? to find out which modules you can use andI also suggest you study the SIMATIC S7-300/S7-400 Software redundancy for SIMATIC S7 manual for all the other helpful nitty gritty details on this subject. And then install up to 12 Module. So in this case you reduce you cost by RED-Bundle (2xIM153-2HF + 1 Bus Unit IM/IM). Hope this helps.

Hello RKM, Let me do not agree with you this time. You still need two IM for achieving redundancy. But you have only 11 modules which could be accomodated in only one rach with two IM153-2HF. Hope this helps.
