I recommend investing in a couple of encoder signal conditioners. 1 signal conditioner accepts TTL from -S1, outputs 24V which can go into the TM Count module You may find suitable signal conditioners on this search site: DIN Rail Signal Converters | Engineering360 (globalspec.com)

Thank you 0_Einstein, but I don't understand, why should I buy a signal conditioners? In the previous machine, with the older IM-151-3 (6ES7151-3AA23-0AB0) and the Count 5V module (6ES7138-4DE02-0AB0) I was able to connect and read the TTL encoder with no problems, so I have a few questions: - the TM PosInput module is wrong? Better the TM count module? Best regards,

So, the real question you have is how can I acquire the 1Vpp (SIN/COS) encoder signal an S7-1200 PLC - correct? TM modules technical specs for input voltage pretty much suggests (at least to me) to convert whatever signal you have into a 24V / 0V pulse train so that position or speed can be captured and brought into the PLC logic. For me, I generally associate encoders with motors, so I would do this with a Sinamics control unit, SMC30, and drive combination. The SMC30 is a special purpose signal conditioner meant for VFD motor control. General purpose encoder signal converters are much less expensive and enable selecting a wider range of input modules to capture the position / speed signals. With the right signal conditioners, you can connect them to HSC_1 and HSC_2 and no TM input module is required. That's going to require less physical DIN rail width and cost less (usually). Are those enough reasons? You can also install special purpose remote IO devices specifically built to convert those encoder signals into profinet signals right at the encoder and reduce the opportunity for noise getting put onto the low voltage encoder data.

For the TTL encoder using the TM PosInput would be the right way to go with Simatic: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/de/view/109780353/132722229643?dl=en. But this cannot handle the 1Vpp sensor.
