Connection PLC S5 to STEP5 through remote desktop

Hello,

I have a problem with PLC S5 recognition. I have a PLC S5 connected to a Windows Vista computer with a PG-USB cable. On this computer I access to a Windows XP virtual machine through remote desktop. And on this Windows XP there is STEP5. (See attachment). For information, the virtual machine is on a server.

But I can't see my connection on STEP5 when my PLC S5 is connected to my physical computer ...

Does it miss some driver ? Or how can I solve this problem ? Or where can I download the PG-USB driver ?

1) I use a PG-USB-Kebel cable (ref 9359-1) from Traeger ( View product )

2) Yes in the settings com port is included ( View photo settings.jpg)

3) You will find enclosed a photo from Windows vista device manager. I've install the driver from Traeger (https://www.traeger.de/s5-interface-kabel.html) on Windows Vista.

imho you must install USB driver in WinXP not in WinVista and in WinXP you must set USB COM port set as COM1 and in STEP5 settings too.

Yes, it´s clear. Why do you can´t install a virtual usb-com driver into WinXP? On your shared link of PG-USB cabel is this information. And this driver you must install to WinXP.

So I've well download the virtual driver on Traeger web site. I try to install the virtual driver into WinXP (right click on .inf file -> install but nothing happen). 

I don't use a VMWare software. I use remote desktop protocol. Look my attached file.

OK, you install both *.inf files? See you in hardware manager WinXP active virtual com port?

Maybe your way isn´t correct for using.  Try contact dealer for help.

I don´t have an experience with your method of connection. Sorry

I have some experience connecting S5 controllers. As far as I know, the SIEMENS STEP5 program for DOS cannot work with a virtual COM-USB port, but only with a real COM port. To work with a virtual COM-USB port, use for example the program PG2000 for WINDOWS.
