Jeff Casagrande Posts: 1529 Rating: (202)	Siemens does not make a Stepper Motor drive. I suggest Google is a good place to start. Or the manufacturer of your motor.

It depends from your country which one is more availble, I do use RTA X-MInd series, but I would change to Leadshine if there will be problems with RTA's. Leadshine is a good chinese product, but you can also get a counterfeit product ( yes chinese now makes counterfeit copies of chinese products).

I have to say that usually you won't need an encoder in conjunction with stepper motor. You can do just a rude check that stepper has jammed once the positioning is done. You just need a homing switch then at machine startup you do the homming sequence, after you do positioning tasks - no feedback. This is the cheap sollution suited for steppers use. IF you realy need feedback, then don't waste yoir time with combination stepper/encoder use servo drive instead.
