Hello , There is a big difference between what we call CPU as a module in PLC with the counterpart in computer world. In PLC,CPU is a complex digital circuits and a firmware to handle automation tasks.For structure of S7 controllers please refer to "The SIMATIC S7 Architecture" and all manual related to S7 controllers.
