May please explain somebody to me what is the sense of the new "Star Rating"?

Why somebody with 2 stars is less helpful than somebody with no star?

If we want to punish members (that are less smart than me .-) )
why we say "not helpful" but ADD stars to their rating account?

If we want to say "not helpful", we must subtract stars but not add them!

Best way is not to say "not helpful" to punish members
because at the Moment, using this "new" Forum is punishment enough.

And why there is this stupid "go to hell" Smiley but no "sir, you are wrong" Smiley any more?

The problem with star rating is that it is without a face. The thank-you for example tells the post owner who used it. So.. having a single black star - for negative comment is not good enough as feedback.

I would suggest having a "not helpful" button working like the "thank you". Ratings does not have to be effected by it, as Forum Management >> Received feedback will tell the guy he is straying off topic.

I would even use "not helpful" on someone if it meant that I have to pay of my own star ratings.  The "not helpful" is a little less rude than guiding someone with words. - - many subject starters will get this "not helpful" for not explaining their problem properly. (please use pictures)

..at the very least - - The older star rating was well balanced. I hope to get that back.

 No stars mean nothing, this only indicates that nobody has rated him. Many people don't get a Feedback for there helpful post.

 For this is the average star ranking left from the total number of received stars, so every one star vote reduced the average rating and this indicates the quality of the posts. The total number of Feedback alone is less meaningful in the new system.
If you see a user with 50 received feedbacks and a average star ranking of one I think this is much more information than somebody with 0 feedbacks in the old system.

If you don't like this you don't have to use the one star rating.

The new system is not perfect for the Forum, but we can't change it, because of the rest of the Online Support (like I write in my other post).

From now a 1 star rating can be only awarded by the Topic creator, because he is the only one who can really appreciate how helpful the answer is for solving his problem. The 2-5 star reviews are still available for all users.

As mentioned in the German forum - in principle it seems to make sense that the topic starter should be the one who can use single stars. He is the one that should know if a post is helpful.

The trap is however that the question asking users do not always word questions well for the helpers to be able to help. Some helpers may also take it up as an insult....if they (topic starter) even bother to put a rating on the post.

My preference - Any feedback is better than none at all. My suggestion to those who read this.. yes use the 1 star BUT also add a "thank you" too when doing so.

thank you for the Feedback. I see your point, but I think the fewest (or none) of the topic creators give 1 star ratings to not helpful advices (in the past this ratings come from any other users).
I keep this idea in mind, but first we should observe how many 1 star ratings will be obtained in the next time.
We don't want that somebody feel bad because of a received rating. Most users put a lot of work in their posts to help other people and this should be acknowledged by every other user.

If this new system will be abused (or not used in a proper way), we will think about another rating improvement (eventually an included thanks ).
