GoForIT Posts: 352 Rating: (7)	We have on two different cpu's experienced that all db's has been set to default values after power failure. The cpu's are: 6ES7 317-2EJ10-0AB0 6ES7 317-2EK14-0AB0 I know that there is a firmware update that solves this issue on 6ES7 317-2EK14-0AB0, but who would know that this is a problem until the disaster is a fact?. My question is: What is the best routine to take backup of my DB's on CPU-300? I know the opportunity to upload to PG, but what about the values changed afterwards?? Is there any tool to do this automatically?? Your help would be praiseworthy. Ola

Buy Versiondog (http://www.versiondog.com) or similar program. 2.) Build your own with the help of the command interface, have a look too at THIS and THIS forum post concenring it.

GoForIT Posts: 352 Rating: (7)	Hi, fritz Now I'm getting really scared. Are you telling me that Siemens do not have a system to take backup of critical information like DB's automatically?? The project is often stored on my laptop, that meens that the command line interface won't solve the problem. Can't this be solved by e.g tag logging in WinCC or some other software?? O

It depends on your intention of getting the back up file.While using wincc, you treat data point in datablock as a individual tag and you just have their data versus time axis.Archiving is helpful if you define tables similar to structure of your DB in PLC and you can access all those data verus date and time.But, consider this point you pay for number of external tags in WINCC.So you can select your critical data and make an archive of them. But if the data block itself, the structure of the data block and values together are important, So need other methods such uploading the project preiodically. regards

GoForIT Posts: 352 Rating: (7)	Thanks for your responses. Using WinCC taglogging to backup this values can work but it will require al lot of logpoints and therefore a costs. Keep in mind that many of this values will be changes only a few times a year. I have been reading about a product called DataManagement Agent. This might solve my problem. Anyone with experiences about this product? Ola

dezile Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	If you want to save current values of DB then from online view copy desired DB in offline view of project (Simple copy / paste). Values will be saved. Try this procedure. When you opening instanceDB you may select do you want to openit with DB Param or with "LD, STL, FDB - Programming S7 Blocks". Open it with DB param. In column Actual value you have saved values of DB. With DB Param you may open anyshared DB (Data block open). You will see actual values of shared DB.

GoForIT Posts: 352 Rating: (7)	I want to put my most imortant data on a server. No manual routine in Step7. I guess I have to create a script on the WinCC server to put the values into a sql table. Then I also archieve a reocrd of historical data. But I'm still a bit supprised that Siemens haven't come up with a tool for this. Backup decreases production downtime. Ola

Why dont you use tag logging capability in WINCC.Data archiving is done automatically and it is olso possible to retrieve data for a specific time by using WINCC optional packages. WinCC/DataMonitor regards
