Detect a break on SAFETY Process

This kind of module (24F-DI) use internal power supply antest-functionto detect wirebreak. If the contact is open (normally open) then F-Module detect wirebrek due to interupt of electric circut. Typicalfor safety functionare normally closed contacts (positiv opening) Perhabs you can solve this issue using F-Di Namur and ohmic resistance. (serial and parallel) and evaluate this.Unfortunately i haven´t a wiring diagramm. Greetings James

But we must also monitor the connectionwhen the contact is open There is the solution of adding a resistor in parallel with the contact and use an analog input, but it's too expensive. Are there any safety input modules which can be set to the voltage levels from 0 to 1? I do not know technology NAMUR. Do you have a link or a tutorial on the subject?

james12 Advanced Member Joined: 6/21/2010 Last visit: 1/13/2025 Posts: 42 Rating: (8)	Hello bfg64, Here the link for Manual (inclusive Namur): http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/19026151 On Top of Page 107you find awireing examplefor NO-Contacts (picture on the right) Suitable Sensors for Namur are: – In accordance with DIN 19234 and NAMUR (with diagnostic evaluation) – connected mechanical contacts (with diagnostic evaluation) This looks not so complicated. That’s the only way out. Other F-modules can’t handle wire break with NO-contacts. I have not other ideas. james
