Hello Pratapls, I think this doucment might answer your questions. I'm not SCADA expert but I will just share with you what I'm thinking of. WinCC is tag based SCADA. WinCC is a very powerful SCADA package that can handle many different Controllers/PLCs and this is the advantage of tag based SCADA, You can have the best controller from a vendor and the best SCADA from another (if you like) or having single SCADA dealing with many different brands of controllers. WinCC license depends on number of power tags. Object-component based SCADA will get you in a DCS environment because both Logic and graphics are developed in a single engineering SW. Although PCS7 is WinCC/SIMATIC engineering environment but it can be considered as component based SCADA/DCS as you divide your plant or process into small objects and SCADA/HMI deals with these objects not with tags. PCS7license depends on number of process objects you have. PCS7 is good and it is supposed to save engineering time in big projects however WinCC/Simatic solution is not bad. There are some ways that reduce engineering time dramatically and ease engineering like integrating WinCC in Simtaic Manager and working with tag structures and tag prefix. Best regards. H-H |
