better will be say that probably this are inputs and outputs on CPU. Simply I think from type, that signal can be +/- to GND, signal fluctuate like in RS-422/485 communication system. So probably you can have 2 pins on module, + and - to meassure that signals. I think this can be used simply in places with high EMI or interference (therefore RS-422/485 line is sp perfect for long distances data Exchange). Look pls to documentation to your CPU about wiring and other infos.

Update: maybe important about Voltage for that outputs, for S7-1217 are 4x1.5V
