Download program from Step 7 to Slave PLC 315 via MPI cable plugged in master PLC

longtran206 Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hello everyone, i have read a pdf file from Siemens teaching about communcation between 2 CPU 315 2dp via Profibus. Then i created a simple project for that using these PLC. The CPU connect to the master PLC by PC adapter MPI I also followed the instruction written in that book. Then when i tried download the program and hardware configuration of master first, it's ok. But then i downloaded the program and hardware configuration for slave, it is also downloaded to the master PLC. and the BUSF led flashed. The slave PLC didn't receive the program The program is working good if i plug the PC adapter MPI to each of CPU and then download their programs. My question is that, is there any possible way to download program from computer the slave PLC when we are plugging the PC adapter to the Master PLC? and How to configure that ? I try to find accessible node in PROFIBUS but i can't find because i think the Computer is not in the Profibus subnet. Change to Netpro (in the start-view the button with'Configure Network')in your project and add Stations > PG/PC. Please check now, that your master PLC is wired (in Netpro) with one interface to the Profibus line and with the other interface to the MPI line (like in your physical network). Choose the Object Properties of the PG/PC station and go to the tab 'Interfaces'. WIth 'new' connect the PG/PC station to the MPI net (the PG/PC station is your engineering station and you tell with that, where in the project you are). Then go to assignment, choose the configured interface and choose the interface of your engineering station (your profibus/mpi adapter). Check with assign. Now you have under 'Assigned' a new entry. Click on it and check the box S7ONLINE Access Active. Acknowledge with OK. The PG/PC station should now have a yellow boarder around its interface. Now your local engineering station knows at a download where in the project it 'stands' and how it can get to your slave-cpu, as far as i know. P.S. That is called S7-routing. You can find some more information herein chapter 9.1

If not, do this. and use a profibus connector with PG interface on master PLC side to download the program to slave PLC. Next, Can you see your slave CPU in Netpro ?

vipz Gold Member Joined: 9/2/2012 Last visit: 3/28/2025 Posts: 711 Rating: (30)	Hai, in both plc hardware configuration, make different plc mpi adress. eg . plc 1 mpi =2 plc2 mpi =3 then 1st time download both the program by opening hardware configuration to avoid confusion. after that you can download what ever the way you want. i think currently in your project both the cpu port(which you looped) having same adress.. regards vipz

I followed your instructions in Netpro and configured it But when i download (from the Netpro), the first time it was ok to download to master. Then the slave it said that " the connection to the target module cannot be established". Then i reseted the master plc and download again, at this time, there was a notification: " the function is not permitted in the current protection level". You can see my configuration in Netpro here Note : BK3100 is beckoff coupler where i add the I/O module for that My idea is that the slave send the data the master and the master take this data to set bits in BK3100. You can find some more information herein chapter 9.1 Hello, I have just make a test in this way: First i download the program + hardware configuration to the master via MPI port ( the PC adapter is plugged into the MPI port). Then i continuously plugged the PC adapter to the MPI port of the slave PLC and download its program + hardware configuration. Then after that, i reseted the slave CPU and clear its memory. Then i followed your steps and plug the pc adapter cable to the MPI port of Master PLC. It showed the note : "Online: the connection to the target module cannot be established" From that i have a question, DO we have to do sth to assign the profibus address of the slave PLC before downloading.? I tried finding the accessible node via "PLC > Displays accessible nodes" or PLC>Profibus>Assign Profibus address", The first one only show the master ( directly). The second one showed the notice: "right now you have made no Profibus interface ..."
