et200sp digital input - question

I have a question concerning wiring of ET200SP

On the page nr 15 there is example of 1-wire and 2-wire connection.

What are the differences between connecting sensor in those two ways? I mean what are advantages and disadvantages of each of those two solutions? 

L+ is an external power supply delivered via backplane to et200 module. what about 24VDC? it is produced by et200? If i wired for example following pairs: 2,10 ; 3; 4,12; 6,14; 8,16 i would obtain more diagnostic features? If I break L+ wire, they will also fail, because module will be not capable of producing +24VDC anymore?

I am sorry for this simple question but maybe i don't understand some very basic concept.

if you wire your sensors over the connectors 9 to 16 then can you use the diagnostic wire break and short circuit to the ground.

This is only possible with 2-wiring because the module measure the current through the sensor.
The advantage is only nice for switches and not for sensors with a high current consumption, eg. inductive sensors or flow sensors.

There are not too simple questions in this forum.
