Thank you for you reply, RB91. I will explain a bit more to clarify. No, the sensor is not a simple NO/NC for homing, it is a measuring device with an 12mm measuring area with 0,1μm resolution, profinet position result (DINT). In the current configuration I use a V90 12bit multiturn absolute encoder (4096 steps/rot). The original idea was to use the sensor as the actual position to a servo controller. I was/am hesitant it is be possible, so I'm checking if anyone has done it. :) Now, my plan B is to move the servo to the mechanical end position ("X1"). As a result of the gearing, the encoder has twice higher resolution/mm compared to the non-geared sensor. Thus it should be possible to move the servo using the in-built encoder and - if it is able to stop at specific pulses - expect to arrive at the correct position. It is cheating the original idea, but it might be good enough. Encoder zero/set home would be done at "X1", no problem to do it every day at startup but it shouldn't be needed with the absolute encoder. I found two application examples for the V90. |
