Geo_log function Error

Hello all,

I'm trying to use the geo_log function to determine the start address of my module butmy return value shows an errorvalueand I don't know what it means.

I think I've set up the geo_log function as I should, but I'm not 100% sure. Here are the settings that I've done:
MASTER:=0(0, if the slot in a centralized configuration is located in: Rack 0 to 3 for S7-300)
STATION:=0(Number of the rack if the area identifier = 0.)
SLOT:=7(Slot no. => location of AI8 x 13 bits_2)
SUBSLOT:=0(Sub-module slot; if no sub-module can be inserted, 0 must be entered here)

This is the error code I receive (RET_VAL):
RET_VAL:=7 (can't find the meaning of this error code)

This is the result of start address of the module result:
LADDR:=16#7001 (which should be 16#0130 in my opinion), bit 15 indicates input(bit 15 = 0) or output (bit 15 = 1)

Can someone explain what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

I'm using TiA portal V11 SP2 upd5.

You might want to check your parameters. That 16#7001 is generally a status return value, so maybe your parameters are misplaced?

Hello huggy, thanks for your reply. In my first post I've shared my parametrization and I do not think it is wrong. Could you please check it and show me where my mistake(s) is(are)? (I also attached a screenshot with my hardware configuration)I'm a bit stuck here, there are not a lot of parameters to fill in and for some reason I'mnot able to make this work. In the interface, the structure is configured, yet only 1 item is listed.

I have to wonder if the structure GEO_LOG_O should be more like:
STATUS : WORD;
LADDR : WORD;

I do not know anything about the FB you are using as I do not use the 300/400 series hardware.

I simply guess that there is something missing if a structure is defined, only one value is specified in the structure, and the value you get returned is not expected but surely looks like a status code.

The structure is not necessary, it was only a part of a test. The status value was stored inside of a static.

The return value is 7 and the logical address is 16#7001, no matter which slot I select, this always stays the same.

I really have no clue what's wrong here, are there any samples available withgeo_log function?

From that link posted earlier, searching for the Evaluating Errors with Output Parameter RET_VAL, it finds section 2.1 and describes the bits for LADDR and values for RET_VAL together.

Are you reading the values over profibus/profinet?
In looking at the bits for 0x0111 0000 0000 0001, it says the answer is 1, and no error occurred.
This is likely an undocumented feature. Does your PLC have firmware 2.6 or higher?

so the sign bit indicates no error has occured, but the status of the return value is not documented?
Could it have something to do with the PLCSIM I'm using, maybe this function doesn't work as it should on a simulation?

PLC has firmware v3.0.
