GSD file not available

Amit_86 Platinum Member Joined: 3/18/2008 Last visit: 12/8/2023 Posts: 1750 Rating: (272)	Dear All, i have some doubt regarding GSD file. i am working on system having S7300 PLC & third party device communicating on Profibus with same PLC.The System is running & i have to do some modifcation job in PLC programming. I have uploaded the Program and i can see Profibus slave(DP-Norm) hooked up with PLC. I don't have GSD file. Now if i download the Hardware Configuration(after Some modfication in Addressing of AI Module) to PLC, What will happend with Profibus Slave? Is there any possibilty that Communication with Profibus Slave will get break if i download the hardware Configuration without having GSD file? i know that during download CPU will go to Stop but after downloading Hardware what will be the Status of Profibus Slave? i mean GSD file get lost from CPU hardware or it will be there? Thanks in advance.

jklm Platinum Member Joined: 12/22/2006 Last visit: 1/25/2022 Posts: 1742 Rating: (308)	Hello, In the manual: Programming with STEP 7, Edition 03/2006 Annex A.4.4 DP-Slaves with Missing or Faulty GSD Files If you process older station configurations with STEP 7 Version 5.1, it is possible in rare cases that the GSD file of a DP slave is missing or cannot be not compiled (for example, due to syntax errors in the GSD file). In this case STEP 7 generates a "dummy" slave which represents the configured slave, for example after a station download to the programming device or after an older project has been opened and processed further. This "dummy" slave can only be processed to a limited extent. You cannot change the slave structure (DP identifiers) and the slave parameters. However, renewed downloading to the station is possible. The original configuration of the slave is retained. The complete DP slave can also be deleted.

The GSDML files are available in official website. About MT5320C-DP (Eview panel) ask KINCO's support. What is PC_RT ? Best regards, Hristo Mihalev
