Hello aeiouauioe; The IP 265 was a High-speed subcontroller for the S5-100U family: Manual for IP265 High-speed SubControl (S5100U) http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1106718 It was programmed either by COM265 or by function block. Manual for FM 352-5 High-speed Boolean controller (S7-300 CPUs)http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/9240171 Order number: 6ES7352-5AH00-0AE0 The configuration software for the FM 352-5 comes as a distinct part: 6ES7352-5AH00-7XG0 Both the IP 265 and the FM 352-5 use a FPGA (field-programmable gate array) to configure very fast input/output access. There is one big difference, the FM 352-5 does not handle 5V TTL inputs, as did the IP 265. If these were not used in the original program, you should be able to program the FM 352-5 to replace the IP 265. Here is a very interesting discussion held on another forum, where a programmer describes the learning curve he had to follow the first time he worked with a FM 352-5; it could be useful to you: http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?t=10857 I suggest you do not try to reproduce/translate the IP 265 program in the S7 PLC. Rather, understand what the unit whas doing in the S5 program, what type of inputs were accessed, how they were processed, and where the data was used elsewhere in the S5 program. Then program the replacement FM 352-5 as a totally separate unit, with its own logic and parameters. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello aeiouauioe it seems your IP 265 was programmed with German mnemonics which is why you won't find the "FM" instruction in the English manual. "EF" (Edge Flag) is the English mnemonic for the German "FM" (Flankenmerker) instruction in the IP265 (and you'll find EF explained in the manual that dchartier pointedyou too). Should you findother (German) instructions in your IP265 program that aren't in the English manual, it may not hurt to grab a copy of THISGerman version of the IP265 manual (you shouldthen beableto match it to thecorrresponding English instruction without the need to learn German). I hope this helps |

New question published by CharlsVP is split to a separate thread with the subject IP265 COM Software. Best regards |
