How do I download modified safety blocks?

Please see attached screenshots (when will Siemens make it possible to attach more than one pic without packing them into a single file?)

I need to download some minor modifications to a machine.

One of the modifications is in a "standard" FC block so I assume I can just download that one and it will automatically be compiled and all is well.

The other modification is in a safety FC block and that might be different.

What is the right way to download the safety FC - should it be compiled somehow first ?

Do I need the Safety password to download the safety block (as I would to edit it)?

If you make changes in safety blocks you need the password. Also it is necessary to compile and download the safety blocks seperately from the normal blocks. Therefor you need the distributed safety option.

I HAVE acquired the password. I am supposed to have the distributed safety option - but how do I verify that I actually DO?

When I download the "normal" blocks they are automatically compiled - am I not correct in thinking that there is no way to " just" compile in the Simatic Manager?

Is there a way to "just" compile the safety block or is that also only done by downloading the block?

With the safety blocks can I just download the one block with changes or do I need to download more - for instance all the safety blocks - even when only one is changed?

I also have the same problem.  When I compile, not only the Safety block is affected also the Hardware configuration doesn't match.

Have I re-download the HW configuration?¿

Normally the safety blocks are marked yellow in the SIMATIC manager. If you try to open them and you don't have installed the option you get a message from Step7.

Inside the safety option you can translate the safety blocks and transfer them. Normally the HWConfig should not be affected.

I attach a creen shot what it looks like. It is in German but within this tool you translate the safety blocks and transfer them to the CPU. Also you activate the safety function inside the CPU and so on.

I cannot find anything called "Extras"?

I think it is worth mentioning that you cannot download just one safety block - they will all be downloaded and all the safety functions must be reset.

 Hello xmnj.

You can deactivate safety mode while you debug your safety program, this way you won't need to stop and restart your PLC when downloading,  it will allow you to download the block the same way as standard blocks, after you are done activate again the safety program. This is possible to allow the programmer to make changes and debug the software faster.

How and where do I deactivate the safety mode whole testing - and how do I reactivate it after the finished test?

I am guessing the I still need to use the Safety Editor to compile and download the blocks the will be safety blocks in the end?

Hello xmnj, sorry for late response.

You deactivate it from safety program editor, but you must have set up on your CPU properties the capability to deactivate safety mode, if is not enabled then it won't let you deactivate it.

I'm not in my programming device right now, sorry, I can't check and post an image right now.
