If you are using the DP/PA coupler to connect a Profibus-PA instrument directlyto a Profibus-DP network (working at 45,45 kB) then you do not need to insert it in the DP configuration of the Profibus-DP master. This is valid on any Siemens CPU or programming software that supports Profibus-DP configurations.

See this extract from the followingSiemens FAQ, and look at the example of a configuration of a PA slave on a DP/PA coupler you will find there:

How do you set up the DP/PA link and how do you configure the DP/PA link and DP/PA coupler?

The DP/PA coupler can be operated in standalone mode. In this case, the DP/PA coupler is not configured in the Hardware Configuration. The PROFIBUS PA field devices are configured directly on the PROFIBUS DP master system of the CPU.

What do you mean, it looks wrong to connect a Profibus-PA to a Profibus-DP configuration?

That is how it is done, unless you use a DP/PA Link (look at the first part of the FAQ I sent earlier).

If you use a DP/PA coupler in stand-alone mode then it is transparent to the Profibus-DP configurator. Simply insert the instrument from the Profibus catalog (under theProfibus-PA directory, if needed insert the gsd file for the instrument provided by the manufacturer), set the Profibus-DP bus speed at 45,45 kB, download the configuration and run the master CPU.
