On our github project meta-iot2050 you can find the sources for the image. I am using VM Workstation, but this can also be done with a hardware PC. I have not tested Virtual Box, but other users successfully have. Create a new VM with Ubuntu 20.04 2 cores 4GB RAM 50GB disk space Internet access Login to the VM as user (not root) and open a console sudo apt update sudo apt install docker.io sudo usermod -aG docker $USER Reboot VM mkdir IOT2050_Images cd IOT2050_Images git clone https://github.com/siemens/meta-iot2050.git cd meta-iot2050 ./kas-docker --isar build kas-iot2050-example.yml After creating the image can be found in `build/tmp/deploy/images/iot2050/iot2050-image-example-isar-iot2050.wic.img` For the first build at least 20GB of free disk space is required! Recommendation is to have at least 4GB of RAM and 2 cores. Best regards!

Linux packages are constantly updated and to experience crashes on unversioned commits is very common. For now, it is recommended to build like this: ./kas-container build kas-iot2050-example.yml:kas/opt/package-lock.yml BR

So these directories had the wrong permissions i think. I did again now in a "fresh" directory (without sudo) and it works for now (not ready yet)

Venomz Experienced Member Joined: 4/25/2018 Last visit: 11/22/2023 Posts: 70 Rating: (8)	A bit of ***y good to know (maybe this can be added to original post) If you wanna build a branched image e.g. ubuntu image from the jan/ubuntu fork, you can merge it the branch for building into master with this: cd meta-iot2050 git fetch git reset --hard jan/ubuntu There are other ways to do it aswell, but this way got around the global login thingy

Better give a regular user docker access. Set KAS_ALLOW_ROOT=yes to override. OBS: I haven't logged in as user. Sorry for the maybe obvious question, but how can I login as user?
