How to set up Simotion Scout to get data from Camera in Simatic Spectation

brianLerner Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi, Im trying to set up a camera so that Simotion Scout can read its position and store the data. I have a program in Spectation 2.8.2 that will find the object and has the coordinates to the system. I just cant figure out how to get that data into Simotion Scout so that it can store the data or act on it using feedback control. What is the best way to do this? Does Simotion Scout support integration with Spectation? How do they communicate? Also what is the best way to store the data once I have it in Simotion Scout? I want to be able to know the specific times the object is in a particular place. I believe this needs to be a background task since the background task runs every 3 ms? I know thats a lot of questions so if anyone has done any of those things that would be helpful! Any sample code or examples would be immensely helpful as well. Thanks Brian

brianLerner Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Its a Siemens Camera. Siemens Simatic VS 723-2. I interface it using Spectation 2.8.2 which is an image processing software which i believe is by Siemens as well. I have little background in programming so I was hoping Simotion Scout had some type of interface between the two.

Thanks Brian hiBrian , I haven't used Siemens camera for such application but i have knowledge about simotion system so i will try to figure out your problem, with few question this camera support profibus o/p ? what data it will give from camera and in which formate? VP

DenisMor Posts: 344 Rating: (50)	It appears that Simatic VS 723-2 is a discontinued product. According to the manual VS72x vision camera supports Profibus DP, Profinet and TCP/IP communications. Simotion supports all those protocols as well. To get them to talk together, Simotion needs to know (in the program) what data does the camera send and receive. The description is in the SIMATIC VS72x Communication manual. For some reason this document is marked as internal (export regulations?) so you will need to ask your local Siemens rep to get it for you.
