Is there some information on serial comms processing times?

I have a similar problem to that of cody_master.

I have to change an analogue output every 10 ms. I also have three RS232 links and one ProfiNet link to deal with.

I started thinking that a 1215C CPU would be adequate, but now, after reading this post, I'm not so sure.

So...I am thinking that I should step up to the 1513-1 PN CPU. I think if I do that I have a good chance of dealing with the analogue output and all of the comms. What do you folk think?

Also, is there some information on serial comms processing times?

Thanks for the information.

So, did you use the SET_CINT and :P features which were recommended to you? Is that all you required to produce the square wave? You didn't use a waveform generator?

Was it a S7-1200 CPU that you used? Which one?

Was the CPU running more than just the perforation function? I have control of a few other devices and some serial data connections, so I am not sure if the CPU will be able to do everything fast enough.

And your prosecution time - do you mean that your square waveform had a period of 20 ms?
