Issues with Service Pack 3 (SP3) of XP and Step7, WinCCFlex, etc

HDMan Posts: 5 Rating: (1)	I truly can't find one forum that addresses the major issue with Service Pack 3 (SP3) of XP, so I am going to start one. Here is my problem: I have a customer who has Step-7 and WinCCFlex to install on a brand new Dell Laptop. The problem is, this laptop came with XP-Professional SP3. This is a FRESH OEM install, not SP3 via an update or upgrade, so therefore it is not removable. What are his options to be able to cleanly install both Step-7 and WinCCFlex on this new laptop. Mike

I have looked at the compatibility matrix from Siemens on the web and it does a poor job of providing information about Service Pack 3. It looks like a call to the hotline is in order.

JMJ Posts: 487 Rating: (44)	You can contact Dell support and ask them to give a reinstall CD with SP2. And I have used WinCC 6.2 with XP SP2 on dell Laptops without any issues. Siemens in USA normally uses dell laptop with their engineers. I have been using Dell with Siemens softwares for last 8 years. There are no issuesthat I facedwith Dell Laptop. However I have had many problems with HP and Compaq systems.
