KTP700 gone wild

Dear colleagues,

One 6AV2-123-2GB03-0AX0 = KTP 700 Basic PN worked well yesterday. Today, at the first download, it asked me if I want to update the firmware, since it's outdated. "The old one is still ok, but the new one is better". Done this x times until now, so why not?

After the firmware download finished, the panel reset itself and waited for the soft transfer. I got used to it going out of order, so I canceled the transfer and restarted it. Then it all went BAM!

I'm no longer able to download the project. I reinstalled the firmware through USB, with no success.

I can go online with it and I can find it in "accessible nodes". Yet when I go to download, it shows me when I connect that there's a "problem", and it can't download...

Why?...

”The selected online target could not be reached”.

Tried with TIA, ProSave and Pack&Go. The most honest reply was given by ProSave - simply "Could not establish a connection".

TIA is telling me there's a problem when connecting to the device, so no OS update or Revert to Factory available. It lets me connect to it, as in "Go online", but, after online, clicking on OS update or Revert to Factory does nothing. If I try OS update or Revert without being online, it tries to connect and fails with a "connection problem".

I managed to get the OS update through the USB stick, with the firmware unpacked from a Pack&Go, like here.

But there's no Revert in that local OS update, and there's no Revert in the menu, or I haven't found it... Where could I find the "older" FW, before the last update?

As a side-issue, the PLC, a 1215, is now also telling me it requires a new firmware (4.1 to 4.2), again, after yesterday was silent as a dead fish.Ain't gonna see that happening! Correction> Actually, it seems it already has 4.2, offline is 4.1, yet I can't use 4.2 in TIA 13. Need 14 for that...

I'm quite impatient, so I got another idea.

I have another display with exactly the same specs in close proximity. Yet it's fresh out of the box, so I haven't upgraded the firmware on it (nor do I intent to, by the way).

So I downloaded the project on it, plugged in an USB and made a backup.

Moved the USB to the Gone Wilde One and did a Restore.

And POOF!, the spell was gone. The GWO is now back on its tracks.

Another day, another mystery solved.

At another download I foolishly checked the 2 options to download the firmware. NOOO!!! At about 30% of the download, when I realized my utter mistake, I quickly clicked on cancel. The download from TIA's side stopped, yet the panel continued to process something.

After the FW update was done and the panel restarted itself, I had a good grip on the USB stick. Yet I gave the normal behavior a chance, and downloaded the project. Guess what? It worked without any hiccups.

Oh, I forgot to mention this happened on the second panel. I'm still reluctant about downloading to the first one.

So the issue is not repeatable.

The first panel remains a bit autistic. I've tried to download the project repeatedly, yet the communication issue remains. It works without a problem after receiving the project over USB, which it did twice, and it communicates with the PLC. But probably the FW update fried something on the TIA communication side...
