LabVIew PC to S71200 with TCP/IP

Ras Sharif Posts: 69 Rating: (0)	Dear All, Iwas trying to communicate PLC S7 1200 CPU 1215 based on Profinet TCP ( TSEND instruction ) to LabVIEW PC based pn TCP/IP protocol. But it was not possible ! As I recieved, the other side of PLC should be Profinet standarded. Regards, Ras

Ras Sharif Posts: 69 Rating: (0)	Not true ! The Profinet TCP protocol matchs the TCP protocol in LabVIEW. Now I can communicate through TCP to LabVIEW. The problem was solved by adding a block in LabVIEW. Regards, Ras

Kaulquappe Posts: 3093 Rating: (323)	Hello Ras, thank you for sharing your experience, but I think the expression you chose, would confuse some users, as language sometimes is very unprecise. The ethernet interface of the CPU often is called Profinet interface. In the main, the problems start here. It is physically an ethernet interface which supports different protocols as Profinet, TCP/IP, Modbus/TCP and so on. As far as I understand you, you made an connection from a LabVIEW PC to the S7-1200 CPUvia theintegrated Ethernetinterface by using the protocol TCP/IP. Ras Sharif Posts: 69 Rating: (0)	Dear kaulquappe, Thank you for the comment. I don't know enough about net. protocols, but I saw the TCP under Profinet section in the manual of S7 1200. Anyway, I could to approach form the clasical serial communications through RS485 to TCP through Ethernet. I like to know some about the networks and communiactions, e. g. the difference between TCP through Eternet and Profinet. Regards, Ras

Regards, Ras Concerning the type of cable used for communication - If distance in your installation are shorter then 100 meter you could also use copper cabling. But if the distance are higher Fiber Optic is the best solution. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev
