LEC compensation problem

CraigSimpson Posts: 159 Rating: (1)	I am currently on a week long training course with Renishaw for their XL-80 laser. This is being done in-house here on a Giddings and Lewis PT1800 HBM with Siemens 840D. The first part of the laser course is to apply linear error compensation (LEC) to the control . When it came to applying the compensation to the control for the first axis we first needed to list the number of compensation points along the axis. This is done in Axis MD 38000. When we went to change this a fault came up saying “Memory will be reorganised”. I went into the help files for MD38000 and it says because of the size of the compensation tables the battery backed SRAM memory will be deleted! We tried this to see what happened and the machine booted up without any drive, HMI, or toolchange parameters, etc. As it said. I reloaded the archives and put the machine back as it was. I thought I could get round this another way be removing a copy of the archives to the PG, opening them in SinucomArc and making the necessary alterations there, then renaming the archives and loading them back into the control. This does not work either as it throws compensation table faults, axis faults and won’t let the machine run. However, when I went back into the MD on the control and checked MD38000, the figure I changed on the PG was still at zero on the control??! Strange. Doanyone know of a way round this so we don't have to set up all our machines from scratch??

Ekalavya Posts: 2964 Rating: (484)	Hi... Anyentry in Axis MD parameter38000 will cause "Memory Re-organization". So what you should means in that condition take a NC archive bacup and give an NCK reset, then reload the NC archive backup which was taken in memory reorganized condition. Now you should able to see your compensation data. I have write up for LEADSCREW PITCH ERROR COMPENSATION you can check the same. Hope this infromation will be useful to you..... CraigSimpson Posts: 159 Rating: (1)	Thanks for the responses guys! We now have the compensation points in and we are ready to laser. A couple of points were that when the new archives were reloaded the PLC and NCK axis values were different and thus caused cross-check errors. We powered the machine down and left it for ten minutes to dissapate power from the DC bus links and powered back up. We still had some axis faults but by unticking the reference user agreements and writing to the PLC we were then able to reference the machine. We will laser this machine now and try to apply the compensation data.

I think machine is with safety intergrated. >When you reload the new NC-PLC archive backups you willget a error " absolute position lost" if theaxisphysically moved... if you try to reload the new archive backup error will occur....error can be corrected by re-referncing the axis. >your right the reference alram can be acknowledgein the user agreement screen.
